Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a unique keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of the brand. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set of keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand who takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting as well as the use of leather derived from by-products of cattle and sustainable managed forests, and the ingenuous patterns of its levers. As you approach a car like the Continental GT W12, its stunning design is accentuated by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever created. The rear tonneau, for instance, featured the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to the production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this unique design, attention to detail and craftsmanship to detail that have established Bentley as the world's most desirable automotive brand. The firm continues to push the boundaries with the latest technology and craftsmanship, including the introduction of an instrument cluster with digital technology as well as an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof and a crafted docking station for Apple iPads, and electrochromic 'smart' glass that can be changed from opaque to transparent by pressing an arrow.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, a century after it was founded. The marque, which is owned by Volkswagen independently following years of dispute with BMW, has planned a range of special launches and events to celebrate this significant occasion. The company planned a range of special events and launches to mark the occasion before planning for a pandemic became a top priority.

Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its luxurious and ostentatious cars and keys, but even keys are designed to make a statement. The Bentayga key is crafted from sterling silver and features an enormous 'B' design that tells everyone you drive a Bentley. It also has the years 1919 and 2019, to commemorate the company's centenary.

The Mulsanne was redesigned and developed by Bentley Mulliner, to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. It features two opposing sets of rear seats modelled on luxury private aircraft and provides passengers with unbeatable comfort and privacy. A custom heating, ventilation and air conditioning system has been developed to ensure each passenger has the perfect climate control setting.

The Mulsanne comes with twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This prodigious power is complemented by a brand new suspension architecture that delivers Bentley's trademark hushed ride.

Bentley has launched a new specification for cars built after the year 2019 in order to celebrate its centennial. It is known as the Centenary Specification.  bentley key replacement  includes cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a personalized Bentley keycase, adding to the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons that open the trunk, and the second that starts the vehicle. It also has a button to turn on the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight space. This feature can aid in getting in and out of the car more easily.

The key is made of vegetable tanned leather and takes more than two days to create each one. It is hand cut, shaped, sewn, sealed, and polished to produce a high-quality finish. It is small and sturdy, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design resembles the Volkswagen Phaeton's large car key, yet it feels more substantial and luxurious.

It also has Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is inserted inside the remote-control key fob and will shut it off after a few minutes of inactivity, preventing thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's unique design reflects the company's values which include exquisite craftsmanship, engineering expertise and modern technology. Over 4,000 employees are employed at its Crewe headquarters, responsible for the development, design, and production of Bentley cars. They apply their skills that have been handed through generations to the latest automotive technologies. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to design their own car. Guests sit at a series of images, referred to "mood stations" and select a series of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that inspire them to design their own. When each selection is made, a pattern appears that reveals the design and color preferences for the personalized Bentley.

Bentley estimates that it requires 500 man-hours to build and assemble the Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace modern technology is the primary factor to this time-consuming task. The Crewe factory workers do not employ a machine to place perfectly matched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built-in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spaces the drivers must perform the task by hand.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization abilities with an exclusive Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays homage to the founder William Osler Bentley.
